All You Need to Know About the Music Business is a music business bible through the eyes of US Lawyer Donald Passman. Now on it’s seventh edition, his book has been helping music industry professionals for over 20 years.

Whether you’re a novice or an expert, Passman is guaranteed to have knowledge that will better your grasp on the way the business works and increase you knowledge significantly. What’s more, the book is written with as little complication as possible, the information within is presented really simply and is really easy to pick up as you read.

The seventh edition covers subjects such as record deals, copyright, new technologies and music for broadcast media such as film. It is designed primarily for musicians to read, and is mostly from a musicians viewpoint, but trust me the book is useful to read if you have any interest in the industry, and want to make the music business your business.

The Author

Donald Passman is a US Lawyer, and a graduate of Harvard Law School, so suffice to say he knows his stuff. During his time in law, Passman has represented tons of music and media clients, where he has gained the expertise to be writing this informative book for your pleasure.

The Lowdown

Okay, so it might not be the most fun and inspiring read, but it’s written in a way that certainly doesn’t make it a boring read, and it really will increase your knowledge of some really important areas of the music business. Creative brains might not take too well to reading a book such as this, but trust me, you need to get your head around this stuff, and there is no better way than Passman’s way.
